Salalah Port Free Trade Zone
Ideally located to serve the Indian
Ocean Rim, Salalah provides new opportunities in international
trade. To turn the vision into reality, a joint venture
company - Salalah Port Services was formed with Finnish
shipping giant Maersk and the Government of Oman. Today
this unique endeavour bears testimony to the contribution
of public and private partnership to economic development
in the Sultanate.
Encouraged by the ports rapid growth, Salalah has been
declared as a Free Trade Zone by the government. With this significant development,
the port of Salalahs position as one of the worlds six largest global
transhipment hubs will be further enhanced. Attractive incentives are available
to transportation, logistics, consumer product and real estate companies to operate
in Salalah World-class incentives: - 100%
foreign ownership of Free Zone Companies

export of goods will be free from customs duties
- No minimum
capital requirements for Free Zone companies
- No taxes on
profits or dividends of Free Zone companies
- No taxes on
the personal income of Free Zone employees
- No restrictions
on repatriation of capital, profits and investments
- Omanisation
requirements of only 10%
- Free Zone Companies will have the
ability to participate in existing export guarantee arrangements provided to other
Omani companies by Omani financial institutions

Salalah Free Trade Zone has been planned to serve as an on site and on line One-Stop-Shop.
From providing assistance with all necessary licensing with Omani authorities,
visas and immigration services to health cards, drivers licenses, car registration
services. From extending help with international accounting, consultancy, local
law firms, banks to on-site accommodation for customers and their employees. At
the Salalah Free Trade Zone, a gamut of value-added services will be offered to
tenants, customers and employers. In addition, an employment agency for the recruitment
of skilled local workforce will be established and a business friendly, result
driven management team will be made available to provide professional guidance.
